Parents, Guardians and Community Members,

Hoosick Falls CSD has been informed of two positive COVID-19 cases impacting the school district. A student in the high school has tested positive, but has been learning remotely and, therefore, will not require a quarantine of any other staff members or students.

A staff member has also tested positive in the elementary school directly impacting one class of students. Working with the Rensselaer County Department of Health, all students and staff members in contact with this individual are being notified with the required quarantine protocols. Unlike prior situations we have had to work through, the impacted staff members all work in the same grade level and in the same hallway.

Our main priorities are maintaining a safe and healthy environment as well as continued in-person learning for elementary school and high school students. Due to the localized impact this particular case has had, we have decided to pivot only the Kindergarten classes to remote learning from Monday, January 11 through Friday, January 15. Classes for kindergarten students will resume on Tuesday, January 19 after the Martin Luther, Jr. holiday.

We will continue to monitor this situation on a daily basis and update the community as we receive additional information. Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times.

Thank you.
