Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a special program established by the State Education Department to provide an early learning experience for the children of eligible families. Eligible students must be four years of age on or before December 1, 2020, and live in the Hoosick Falls Central School District.

Hoosick Falls will be running two full-day Pre-Kindergarten classes once again during the 2020-2021 school year. The children attend the program five (5) days a week, 182 days per school year, at no cost to you. This year, both classrooms will follow the K-6 school day hours from 8:35 a.m.-3:20 p.m. Students who are unable to attend the full-day Pre-Kindergarten for the entire school year may be ineligible. Since both classrooms are operating the same hours this year, we will not be honoring requests for a specific classroom and/or teacher. This will allow us to create balanced classes which will serve to enhance your child’s learning experience.

We are fortunate enough to provide busing this year for any UPK child who is four years of age. At this time, we are unable to bus three-year-old students as they require “properly installed, federally-certified child safety seats.” Therefore, parents will be required to provide transportation until their child turns four years old.

STATEMENT OF METHOD FOR SELECTION OF CHILDREN

The Hoosick Falls Central School District will oversee the registration process.  The district will accept applications, verify eligibility, and place children as slots are available.  If more requests are made than can be placed, a random lottery will be used to choose children for the program. 

We are currently accepting applications online only at http://hoosickfallscsd.org/kindergarten-registration-2/It is important that you complete the online registration forms by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020.  Any applications received after the submission deadline will not be included in the lottery selection process.  If the program is full, the student will be placed on a waiting list.  Parents/ Guardians will be notified of the status of their child’s enrollment before July 10, 2020. 

Before your child can be fully enrolled, we must have the following copies that we may keep:

  1. A copy of your child’s original birth certificate.  (If the birth certificate is not in English, we need a copy of your child’s passport.).
  2. A completed signed or stamped record of up-to-date immunizations and physical examination record, with the physician’s name and address included.
  3. Three proofs of district residency (documentation showing your name and address.  Example:  mailing address on a bank statement, utility bill, etc.).
