Hoosick Falls CSD will release students early on Monday, April 8 (11:30 a.m. for MS/HS and 12:30 p.m. Elementary) due to the solar eclipse taking place in the afternoon.
A total solar eclipse only takes place once every 400 years in the same location on Earth. The Zone of Totality (100%) will move across the state from Buffalo over the Adirondack Mountains through Plattsburgh.
The Hoosick Falls community will experience a 'deep partial' eclipse of The Sun gradually from 2:13 p.m. until a maximum coverage of 96.9% at 3:27 p.m.
It is imperative that you DO NOT look at an eclipse WITHOUT the use of viewing glasses. All children will receive a pair of eclipse glasses and information sheets to take home with them on the Monday we return from Spring Break.
Listed below are links to additional information on the eclipse including the specific path, times, events and safety tips for viewing.
