On Wednesday the AP Human Geography class along with the Spanish 4 students visited the Albany International Center to participate in a collaborative project. Students that attend the Albany International Center are new to the country and are learning English as their second language. Our geography students have been studying migration patterns, culture, and diffusion of agriculture. They were able to put their knowledge to the test by meeting students from all over the world and learning first hand about cultural and migration patterns from their peers. AIC students shared their personal stories from their home countries of Thailand, Guatemala, Ivory Coast, Afghanistan, Yemen, Tanzania, Sudan, Honduras, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Our students shared the cultural landscape of Hoosick Falls and practiced their Spanish. Both groups of students took away more than just cultural experiences, it was a lesson on appreciating and embracing different cultures to build bridges of understanding and respect.
