American Red Cross Prepare with Pedro the Penguin Presentation

The Hoosick Falls Elementary students attended safety presentations conducted by the American Red Cross last week. Students in grades K-2 listened to the "Prepare with Pedro the Penguin" program, which focuses on how to be prepared and take action during a home fire or local hazard. Students learned strategies for moving through a smoky environment in order to safely get out and stay out of a burning building. The program also stressed the importance of families establishing a safe meeting place to gather once they exit and practicing coping skills to help manage stress during such events. The 3rd and 4th grade students listened to "The Pillowcase Project" and learned personal and family preparedness, safety skills and coping skills in the event of fires and other emergencies that can occur in their homes or communities. Thank you to the American Red Cross volunteers for bringing these important, interactive emergency preparedness programs to our students!
