There's always a lot going on here at HFCS, no matter what grade we're talking about. Please enjoy these stories and photos that show our Panther PRIDE!🐾
Last week, Mr. Cabana's AP Psychology students, guided by the Middle/High School librarian (and former science teacher) Mrs. Antolick, dissected sheep brains in order to understand the structures within the brain and how they have similar structures to human brains.
There's a "Random Act of Kindness" effort in the works (with a twist!) happening throughout the whole school. 200 rubber ducks were secretly placed throughout the school, and students and staff are being encouraged to play along. Once they find a duck, they can claim a prize.
Last week's Positivity Project's focus was on 'Other People Mindset' and considering your words/actions and how they affect others. Mrs. Nash's fourth grade students filled out 'Compliment Cards' for each other. They did 1 minute rotations, writing a compliment on all of their classmates' cards.
Mrs. Collins' Art & Community class hung up positive notes on students' lockers last week, to show empathy, 'Other People Mindset' and to express gratitude.
Mrs. Coll, High School Social Studies teacher, hosted presenters from the Rensselaer County Career Center last week, for some career exploration with a class of seniors. Jessica Eckert, Commissioner for the Rensselaer County Career Center, Andre Leppin, Youth Services Navigator, and Roy Smith, Workforce Advisor, spoke to students about different options in the area and shared available resources. Did you know they had virtual reality headsets for career exploration?!
