Lunar New Year Grade 4

Students in Mrs. Brownell, Mrs. Wells, Mr. Yeung, and Mr. Laurin's 4th grade classes learned about Lunar New Year this week! First, Mr. Yeung prepared a special presentation to teach about the holiday and its traditions. The class even learned some Cantonese phrases! Students made lanterns and fans to decorate the classroom, created Chinese zodiac spinners, and read a story about the holiday. Mr. Yeung gifted students with chopsticks and gave lessons on how to use them. Students were also given traditional gifts of oranges and chocolate coins in red envelopes. Mr. Yeung also provided a variety of Chinese snack foods for the students to try. The class favorite was chicken feet flavored potato chips! This was a special day for everyone, and the students really enjoyed learning about the holiday and Chinese culture! The teachers and students would like to give special thanks to Mr. Yeung and his family for providing all of the wonderful treats and making this day possible! (Thank you to Mrs. Brownell for sharing this story and these photos.)
