Project: Cameron's Story

Hoosick Falls Elementary School recently participated in the Project: Cameron's Story 16th Annual “Bookraiser”. This “Bookraiser” is part of the first-grade community service project and helps support a foundation called Project: Cameron's Story.

“The goal of Project: Cameron’s Story is to support the bonding of parents with their premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), through the use of children’s literature and storytelling. We strive to empower parents to form unique and profound connections with their babies within an environment that is often uncertain and intimidating. Our mission is to place a brand new, quality, children’s book in the hands of every parent of a premature baby upon admission to the 19 of the largest NICU’s across New York State." To read more about Project: Cameron’s Story, visit their website at www.projectcameronsstory.com.

For their 16th Annual Bookraiser, Project: Cameron’s Story collected enough donations from all who helped fundraise to be able to provide 31,251 books! The first grade students held a Read-A-Thon parent/guardian event on February 14th to help increase awareness for Project: Cameron’s Story and spread the love of reading. Great job to the HFCS first-grade team, and thank you to all who donated through this "Bookraiser'!
